Health Literacy
Strategic Pillars
Health Literacy
Health decisions are made throughout life, often long before a person enters a healthcare facility. AMAN believes that people are better able to make informed decisions when they have access to trusted knowledge that is relevant, understandable, and responsive to the realities of their lives. Through structured learning, formal training and sensitisation, community engagement, and digital education, AMAN works to strengthen health literacy among adolescents, women, families, educators, healthcare providers, and communities.
Our work covers the knowledge people need to navigate important decisions about their health, relationships, family life, rights and responsibilities, including reproductive health, family planning, prevention, and protection from violence.
Bakhabar Noujawan is an important part of this approach, providing structured, self-paced learning that helps people build knowledge before critical life decisions are made. But AMAN’s approach extends beyond digital learning, working through schools, teachers, communities, health facilities and other trusted spaces to make health information more accessible and create opportunities for people to ask questions, address misconceptions, and engage with sensitive or complex issues in a safe and informed way. By bringing trusted knowledge closer to the people who need it, AMAN aims to move beyond information alone. The goal is to build the understanding, confidence, and agency people need to make informed decisions about their health and lives. AMAN is also expanding this approach into financial literacy, recognising that knowledge and informed decision-making can strengthen people’s ability to navigate wider life choices and build greater agency and independence. Together, these efforts reflect AMAN’s commitment to helping individuals and communities access the knowledge and skills they need to make informed choices and shape healthier, more empowered futures.
