About Us
AMAN is a women-led organization advancing maternal, newborn, adolescent, and sexual and reproductive health in Pakistan. We believe healthier futures are built through informed communities, skilled healthcare providers, stronger health systems, and equitable access to quality care. Since 2007, we have worked alongside healthcare providers, communities, governments, and development partners to advance health literacy, strengthen health systems, build local capacity, and deliver evidence-based solutions where they are needed most.
Our Story
Every day, women across Pakistan make the extraordinary journey of bringing new life into the world. Yet for far too many families, what should be a moment of hope is still marked by preventable suffering and loss. AMAN was born from the belief that no woman should lose her life while giving life, and no mother or newborn should die from preventable causes.
Established in 2007 through the National Committee for Maternal and Neonatal Health (NCMNH), AMAN brought together clinicians, public health experts, researchers, and development partners united by a shared determination to change that reality. What began as a collective effort to improve maternal and newborn health has grown into a women-led organization working across maternal, newborn, adolescent, and sexual and reproductive health.
Nearly two decades later, our purpose remains unchanged. We continue to work towards a future where every pregnancy is planned, every birth is safe, and every individual has access to the knowledge, care, and opportunities needed to lead healthier lives.
That vision continues to shape our mission, our partnerships, and every programme we deliver.
Our Vision
A world where every pregnancy is planned, every birth is safe, and every mother and newborn thrive.
Our Mission
Our mission at AMAN is to eliminate all preventable maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity by providing quality care and promoting equity in accessing healthcare services for all. We aim to achieve this by strengthening the capacity and capability of healthcare providers to provide safe and comprehensive maternal and neonatal care and introducing innovative programs for advocacy and community engagement.
The People Behind AMAN
Our multidisciplinary team brings together clinicians, public health experts, researchers, programme leaders, gender specialists, behaviour change experts, and communications professionals to translate technical knowledge into practical action. By connecting clinical evidence with community realities, AMAN designs solutions that are technically sound, culturally responsive, and built for lasting impact.
