When Communities Know Where to Go, More Women Get Care

For women and families, knowing when to seek care and where to go can make all the difference. AMAN works with communities and health facilities to strengthen that connection, helping families recognise danger signs, understand the importance of skilled care, and navigate the pathway to health services.

In rural Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, AMAN’s community health awareness sessions have covered birth preparedness, danger signs during pregnancy and after childbirth, skilled facility-based care, breastfeeding, and family planning. At BHUs and RHCs in Upper Dir, these sessions were held in the facilities and surrounding communities by AMAN’s field team.

Dr. Maqsood Rauf, Incharge  of BHU Akhagram, reported that monthly institutional deliveries increased from around 10–12 to 25–30 following the intervention.

When people know the warning signs and understand where care is available, awareness can become a decision to seek care in time.
